Fizz in St Lucia - Jan 2010

It’s 8 o’clock on Sunday morning, 31st January 2010, and here we are back on Fizz in Rodney Bay, St Lucia. The temperature outside is 29’ and the early morning rain showers are clearing to reveal another hot and sunny day. We had a great time back in the UK over Christmas and the New Year with family and friends but we certainly won’t be missing the cold weather. Stu joins us on Wednesday 3rd Feb , and we are now getting Fizz ready for a fairly busy Caribbean sailing season down to the Grenadines, back to St Lucia, then up to Martinique, Antigua and the BVI’s before heading up to Miami via Bahamas. Then on 6th May we head off on ARC Europe, “the return run” via Bermuda and the Azores arriving in Lagos, Portugal in early June. We have lots of family and friends joining us over the next 4 months, including the Sturrocks and Quaidoos in Feb , the Golds in March, and Nick will be joining us in March with David and Gareth Burnell. In April, when we get to Miami, Claire will join us and we will also meet up with the Swifts while they are on holiday there. Our crew for the return ARC Europe run includes Alec Lamont and Peter O’Sullivan, as well as Stuart and myself. Alec recently retired from LRF and is now enjoying a well-earned and active retirement. Peter runs his own company and is taking a 2 month sabbatical . More on Alec and Peter to follow.

We also have Taffy back on board after a winter break visiting his relatives. He is sporting a Welsh flag which he picked up back in Cardiff.  Is this a sign of increasing nationalistic tendencies ?

More to follow.
